Prayer

The United Methodist Church has a strong belief in the power of prayer. At Shady Grove UMC, we embrace prayer in several different ways:

Prayer Chain - Our prayer chain is a dedicated group of individuals committed to giving some of their personal prayer time each week to pray for individual needs of our congregation and community. Bobbie Stein is the contact for our prayer chain. She sends emails and makes phone calls to a phone tree with prayer requests. You may email Bobbie at

Intercessory Prayer - Lisa Jones, of our Congregational Care Committee offers a weekly opportunity for intercessory prayer, every Wednesday at noon in our Chapel. We invite you to join Lisa if you would like. Requests for intercessory prayer can be submitted in writing by dropping in the box in the narthex (lobby of our sanctuary) or by emailing Lisa at blessedb4@yahoo.com. All prayer requests are kept confidential.

Pastoral Prayer - Prayer requests can also be sent directly to one of our pastors. David L. Adkins, Sr., our senior pastor, can be reached at adkins@shadygroveumc.net or 360-3907, ext. 25. Amy E. Pannell, our associate pastor, can be reached at apannell@shadygroveumc.net or 360-3907, ext. 26.
