Frank Basil, Director of Youth Ministries

Frank Basil, our Director of Youth Ministries, was born and raised in Annapolis, MD. After receiving a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Clarion University of PA, Frank returned home and was a volunteer adult leader with the youth ministry at Calvary UMC. While working together in the youth ministry, Frank met his wife of 24 years, Cindy. They have 2 children, Scott and Marie. Scott will be starting his senior year at Christopher Newport University and Marie will begin her freshman year at University of South Carolina in August, 2011. Frank and his family relocated to Richmond in 1995 and eventually settled in at Shady Grove UMC as their new church home.

Frank served as a Youth Ministry Adult Volunteer before voluntarily filling the role as Interim Director of Youth Ministries in October, 2010 during the search process after the former Director moved to Northern VA. After a few months, Frank felt called to pursue the position on a full time basis and in March, 2011 the Interim was removed. Frank is blessed to have his entire family involved in the youth ministry at Shady Grove and is grateful for the opportunity to serve.

Frank enjoys sports and food, both cooking and eating and has enjoyed coaching youth sports for many years. Serving others with family and friends on mission trips is a definite high of youth ministry.
