2011 Connection Directory

Shady Grove’s Mission Statement:

Shady Grove UMC exists to build God’s Kingdom by being authentic followers of Jesus Christ through worship, fellowship, discipleship, and mission.

CONNECT……INVOLVE…….LEAD

“You’re blessed when you work up a good appetite for God.  He’s food and drink in the best meal you’ll ever eat.”  Matthew 5:6                                                                                                                                                               (“The Message”)

Are you hungry for more within your faith?  Are you looking for a way to connect with others, get more involved or lead others through their spiritual journey?  Be part of helping Jesus make disciples here at Shady Grove United Methodist Church by connecting with others through the many offerings listed in this Connection Directory.

All are welcome to the opportunities in this directory.  You do not have to be a member of Shady Grove to participate!  This is Jesus’ church and He welcomes everyone! Anyone can come!

What is a Connection?
A connection is the way Jesus forms us as disciples.  Gathering around a topic, theme, passion or interest; individuals have an opportunity to create and develop their relationship with other Christians, God and the Community.  God created us to have three connections in our lives:

1.    Connecting with Each Other
Jesus designed discipleship as an interpersonal adventure!  In connections, we learn about, care for and encourage each other.
2.    Connecting with God
Asking for and acknowledging God’s presence opens up hearts, minds and spirits.  An intentional aspect is beginning and nurturing a relationship with God.  This intentional relationship will look different for every connection and should be personalized for your comfort level and passions.
3.    Connecting with Others in the Community
Experiencing a relationship with other Christians and God generates energy and excitement to reach out.   Blessing one another helps us to turn and bless others.

Be intentional in your ongoing relationships….find a way to make a connection!
